Matt came to RVM in 2015 to meet a growing demand on development resources. As a supervisor, Matt's responsibilities include the planning and organizational aspects of all vineyard development activities from the design stages to scheduling labor and finalizing erosion control measures. Matt brings a unique range of skills, friendly personality and enthusiasm to a business that thrives on personal relationships. “When you have relationships built on trust and respect everything else falls right into place.”

Matt is a journeyman in the world of wine and vineyards. He began his career at the age of 21 as a slick talking wine salesman. “I could really sell, but I was humbled by how little I knew.” His passion grew and he pursued wine making at Hall Wines in 2010. “I discovered the secret to making exceptional wine was sourcing high quality fruit.” After a vintage in Western Australia, and two years of stomping around Napa Valley as a vineyard scout, a fortuitous meeting with Oscar brought Matt to Renteria Vineyard Management. “Vineyard development allows me to start at the source of excellence.”
